Pakistani pacemaker Shaheen Afridi has banned from the upcoming Asian Cup as he recovers from a knee injury.
In a big blow to Pakistan, the star of his pace car Shaheen Shah his Afridi, ruled out of his Cup next Asia due to injury.
Afridi said he advised by the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Medical Advisory Board that he should take a four to six week rest period, the board said in a statement on Saturday.
Shaheen Afridi will also miss Pakistan’s home series against England.
“Shaheen Shah Afridi has advised by the PCB Medical Advisory Board and independent experts to rest for four to six weeks following the latest scans and reports.

This means Shaheen has expelled from the ACC T20 Asian Cup and the home series against England,” Pakistan’s board said in a statement.
The left arm pacemaker suffered a ligament injury in his right knee during the first friendly against Sri Lanka in Goal.
“I spoke with Shaheen.
I can understand that he is upset by this news, but he is a brave young man and has vowed to come back firmly to serve his country and team.

PCB Chief Medical Officer Najeebullah Soumro said:
The 22-year-old was part of the Pakistan squad in his ongoing ODI series in the Netherlands, but did not appear in his first two matches.
“He made progress during his rehab at Rotterdam but now clear that more time needed and expected to return to cricket in October.
Pakistan have yet to announce a replacement for Shaheen Afridi in their Asian Cup squad.
Pakistan will launch its campaign against its biggest rival India on August 28 in Dubai.
