What BCCI Officials said:
We can’t put him at risk in the Asian Cup and his injuries could get worse,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on condition of anonymity.
Bumrah played one last time in the ODI away series against England before resting in the rubber against the West Indies and Zimbabwe.
However, back problems are* thought to keep him out for some time.
And he will need to rehabilitate at Bangalore’s National Cricket Academy before being considered suitable for a whiteball home series against Australia and South Africa in September.
Bumrah had a similar problem a few years ago and was out for a long time.
Bamrah’s injury is a setback for the Indian team as it will take him a few games to get back on track after a lengthy layoff lasting more than two months.
He will be automatically selected* on his comeback.
But the same cannot be said* for someone like Avesh Khan who wants to prove his worth to stay on the field if given the chance in the Asian Cup.
